Corrado Meneguzzo (presented here as a member of Identity Collective) was born in Malo (Vicenza), in January 1964. Since the end of the 1970s he has frequented the artistic and cultural environment that revolves around the Casabianca Museum-Laboratory for contemporary art. , founded in Malo in 1978. Painter, cabinetmaker, restorer, he has refined his experience using the most disparate materials where the passion for the material – precious or waste makes no difference – leads him to investigate measures, relationships, analogies, metaphors. In 1995 the recovery of the rural house that dominates the Priabona pass begins, this structure will become his laboratory and hermitage. The artist states: “Archaic is the world where I grew up. Archaic is my territory scattered with traces of vanished worlds. Archaic is the world of artisan and peasant traditions in which I learned the craft of cabinetmaker and restorer. Archaic is the meaning of life and death. Contemporary is my gaze… Contemporary is the culture of the concrete sheds, of the production technology of the plain. The life of the wild woods of the hills where I live is contemporary. I’m interested in emotions. I work to bring them back to light, to save them from indifference “. Corvine hair stretches out towards a shattered sky whose waves appear cadenced by purple and brown companions. It is an unstoppable fighting of large opposing areas, imposing, atavistic existences of air and densities, a natural spectacle and yet a meeting place for hermits attracted by peace. A celestial and hidden ray of light diffuses the quiet shores – motionless and detached from the unruly colors of the cosmos – to trigger a strenuous struggle between sinister shadow and prosperous light. A contrasting feeling, lunar and at the same time diurnal, reverberates in the essence of the unknown storm that announces itself and withdraws, shaping the leaden landscape with expectation; silence reigns there, a calmness that nevertheless roars, in the distance, with dark thunder on the sea, on the blue plane of fertile waters. Apparently, no mention of the human presence connotes the valley. Behind the mere absence, the fluid and pasty brushstroke corroborates the artist’s spiritual vigor by ferrying existence towards the introspective perceptions of the ego born from the extension of the open and infinitely uncertain space. Epiphanic apparitions could be hidden beyond the brooding horizon, given and not given, veiled by looming and layered clouds. The murky forest embraces the uncontaminated clearing in a silent temporal stagnation in which the human soul is seduced and harnessed in the wind or in the primordial fragrances of the earth; a bewildered soul between moments of serenity and moments of storm, diaphanous and at the same time full of bodily pictorial matter. The wind of the secret voices, born from the deep banks of the soul, sings for the thick foliage, for the level slopes, for the soaring and sharp mountains, filling with its being every vegetable member, every celestial vein, involving everything in a cathartic emotional growing.(Stefania Pieralice).

Corrado Meneguzzo nasce a Malo-Vi, nel gennaio del 1964. Già dalla fine degli anni ’70 frequenta l’ambiente
artistico e culturale che gravita attorno al Museo-Laboratorio per l’arte contemporanea Casabianca, fondato
a Malo nel 1978, dove si alimenta la sua vocazione artistica.
Per vivere ha lavorato come ebanista e restauratore, ha fatto sport a livello agonistico, ha affinato la sua
esperienza con i materiali più diversi, ma la pratica artistica e la pittura sono inseparabili costanti della sua
vita. Esperienza, ispirazione, passione per la materia, preziosa o di scarto non fa differenza, gli fanno intuire
ovunque misure, relazioni, analogie, metafore: poesia. Nel 1995 inizia il recupero della casa rurale che
domina il passo di Priabona e che nel corso del tempo è diventata il suo laboratorio e il suo eremo. Un work
in progress che continua tuttora. Lì, nella solitudine e nel silenzio, prendono vita i suoi recenti paesaggi.
Realizzati in un anno cruciale e drammatico della sua vita, tra il 2017 e il 2018, sono atti di volontà per
affermare la vita dopo avere sfiorato la morte.
Se creare è essere in vita, per Corrado Meneguzzo l’empatia e l’immaginazione sono il motore
dell’intelligenza, e il pensiero diventa arte.
